Named for explorer Lt. Zebulon Pike, Pikes Peak’s striking beauty has inspired countless travelers and helped shape our nation’s history. One of those travelers, Katharine Lee Bates, ascended the mountain in 1893 and was so moved by the breathtaking views, she wrote the poem that ultimately became “America the Beautiful.” Welcome to America’s Mountain!

Scenic drive to the top via the world’s highest toll road, or reach the summit by train or by hiking Barr Trail.
